Ductile–brittle transition in micropillar compression of GaAs at room temperature
Philosophical Magazine, 2011Experiments have been carried out on how compressive failure of axis GaAs micropillars at room temperature is influenced by their diameter. Slip was observed in all micropillars, often on intersecting slip planes. Cracks could nucleate at these intersections and then grow axially in the sample, with bursts of crack growth.

Volume 1: Codes and Standards, 2022Abstract In order to predict fracture behavior of a structure with low constraint, tensile fracture tests using flat plate specimens with a surface flaw were performed at −80°C and −120°C in the ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) region. The Effect of Fatigue on the Ductile-Brittle Transition Temperature of Two Mild Steels
Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 1966AbstractTwo notched, mild steels in artificial sea water at 24°C were fatigued in tension-compression for approximately 1 and 15 per cent of the fatigue life. The ductile-brittle transition temperature (dbtt) was evaluated by notchtensile tests and Standard Oil Development (SOD) tests. Fatiguing raised the dbtt by about 15 to 20°C.
