Analysis of Ductile to Brittle Transition Temperature of Stainless Steel
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018All ferrous materials exhibit a transition from ductile to brittle when tested above and below a certain temperature, called as Transition Temperature. The Ductile-to-Brittle Transition Temperature is a phenomenon which is mainly observed in metals. Below the particular temperature the material suddenly losses its ductility and it changes from ductile ...

Ductile-to-brittle Transition in Superplastic Silicon Nitride Ceramics
Journal of Materials Research, 2002The ductile-to-brittle transition was observed in a superplastic silicon nitride nanoceramic. This transition depends on strain rates and deformation temperatures. Generally, the material exhibits ductility at low strain rates and high deformation temperatures. At 1600 °C, the material is brittle when the strain rates are higher than 10−3/s. At a fixed

Ductile to brittle transition of Cu46Zr47Al7 metallic glass composites
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2008Abstract The ductile to brittle transition behaviors of Cu 46 Zr 47 Al 7 metallic glass and its composite with different microstructures were systematically evaluated by Vickers hardness and small punch test, on the base of the uniaxial compression properties reported before. It was found that the metallic glass composite containing different volume

Thermal activation analysis of ductile to brittle transition of polypropylene
International Journal of Fracture, 1996A fracture test of polypropylene is carried out by changing the loading rate at several constant temperatures. The purpose is to display the transition caused by the loading rate at different temperatures. Arrhenius law will be adopted in the analysis and a quantitative relationship which can describe the transition will be obtained after this ...

The ductility below the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature of the FeCrAlloy
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2009Abstract The ductility below the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature of the FeCrAlloy is studied by the dynamic mechanical analysis technique. The dynamic storage modulus decreases slowly first, then with the increase of the temperature, it decreases rapidly for the FeCrAlloy and the FeCrAlloy oxidized at 650 °C. The damping increases little at

The ductile‐to‐brittle transition in steels controlled by particle cracking
Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 2006ABSTRACTFracture initiation sites in a number of MnMoNi steels have been assessed, leading to the development of a model describing cleavage fracture in these steels. The weak links in all the steels are iron carbides. The model finds an effective upper limit (rmax) to the carbide size distribution, apparently dependent on the final quench.

Ductile-To-Brittle Transition Time in Polyethylene Geomembrane Sheet
1990The susceptibility of polyethylene (PE) geomembranes to stress cracking was evaluated in the laboratory using an accelerated notched constant load testing (NCLT) method. The test specimens were subjected to various stress levels which ranged from 25% to 70% of the yield stress at 50°C.
