Effect of temperature on ductile-to-brittle transition in diamond cutting of silicon
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2021Ultra-precision machining of single-crystal silicon can be realized by applying single-point diamond turning with micro-laser-assisted machining technology, through which the ductility of silicon can be enhanced. However, it is difficult to explain the role of temperature accurately in such technology in a traditional manner.

Analysis of Ductile to Brittle Transition Temperature of Stainless Steel
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018All ferrous materials exhibit a transition from ductile to brittle when tested above and below a certain temperature, called as Transition Temperature. The Ductile-to-Brittle Transition Temperature is a phenomenon which is mainly observed in metals. Below the particular temperature the material suddenly losses its ductility and it changes from ductile ...

On the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature in MoSi2
Scripta Metallurgica et Materialia, 1992This paper reports that the intermetallic compound MoSi[sub 2] combines excellent oxidation resistance, a high melting point (2020[degrees]C), reasonable strength and density, and good thermal conductivity, making it a promising material for structural applications above 1200[degrees]C.
