The influence of ductile tearing on fracture energy in the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature range

Materials Science & Engineering A: Structural Materials: Properties, Microstructure and Processing, 2002
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between fracture energy and the ductile area measured on the fracture surface. Instrumented Charpy tests and fracture toughness tests are performed in the transition temperature range, as well as at lower temperatures.

Effect of temperature on ductile-to-brittle transition in diamond cutting of silicon

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2021
Ultra-precision machining of single-crystal silicon can be realized by applying single-point diamond turning with micro-laser-assisted machining technology, through which the ductility of silicon can be enhanced. However, it is difficult to explain the role of temperature accurately in such technology in a traditional manner.

Analysis of Ductile to Brittle Transition Temperature of Stainless Steel

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018
All ferrous materials exhibit a transition from ductile to brittle when tested above and below a certain temperature, called as Transition Temperature. The Ductile-to-Brittle Transition Temperature is a phenomenon which is mainly observed in metals. Below the particular temperature the material suddenly losses its ductility and it changes from ductile ...

On the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature in MoSi2

Scripta Metallurgica et Materialia, 1992
This paper reports that the intermetallic compound MoSi[sub 2] combines excellent oxidation resistance, a high melting point (2020[degrees]C), reasonable strength and density, and good thermal conductivity, making it a promising material for structural applications above 1200[degrees]C.
