Twin-induced plasticity of an ECAP-processed TWIP steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The TWIP steels show high strain hardening rates with high ductility which results in high ultimate tensile strength. This makes their processing by equal channel angular pressing very difficult.

A review of progressive collapse research and regulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
History has demonstrated that buildings designed to conventional design codes can lack the robustness necessary to withstand localised damage, partial or even complete collapse. This variable performance has led governmental organisations to seek ways of

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Seismic Performance of Bridge Columns with High-Strength Reinforcement and Concrete

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Despite the numerous advantages high-strength reinforcement (HSR) and high-strength concrete (HSC) offer over conventional materials, the practical use of these materials for bridge column design in seismic zones has somewhat been limited. This is due to

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Nonlinear Behavior Study of Reinforced Concrete Coupling Beams Subjected to the Effect of Wind Loading

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2023
Reinforced concrete shear walls connected by coupling beams are considered an efficient structural system for tall buildings subjected to lateral loads. For seismic design of such buildings, performance-based design has been commonly used in regions with
