Nanoscale austenite reversion through partitioning, segregation, and kinetic freezing: Example of a ductile 2 GPa Fe-Cr-C steel

open access: yes, 2012
Austenite reversion during tempering of a Fe-13.6Cr-0.44C (wt.%) martensite results in an ultrahigh strength ferritic stainless steel with excellent ductility.

A review of progressive collapse research and regulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
History has demonstrated that buildings designed to conventional design codes can lack the robustness necessary to withstand localised damage, partial or even complete collapse. This variable performance has led governmental organisations to seek ways of

Conductive Bonding and System Architectures for High‐Performance Flexible Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review outlines bonding technologies and structural design strategies that support high‐performance flexible and stretchable electronics. Bonding approaches such as surface‐activated bonding and anisotropic conductive films, together with system‐level architectures including buffer layers and island‐bridge structures, possess distinct mechanical ...

Theoretical and numerical analysis of reinforced concrete beams with confinement reinforcement

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais
This paper discusses the use of confinement in over-reinforced concrete beams. This reinforcement consists of square stirrups, placed in the compression zone of the beam cross-section, in order to improve its ductility.

The effect of masonry infill walls on the reinforced concrete frames behavior under lateral load [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The reinforced concrete structures with masonry infill walls are widely used to construct buildings in Algeria, as in many parts of the world. According to earthquake analysis, this type of construction can undergo serious damage under seismic load.

Analytical modeling of reinforced concrete columns subjected to bidirectional shear [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Under general seismic loading, reinforced concrete columns may be subjected to lateral loads in more than one direction. Available experimental data on columns subjected to bidirectional forces indicate that higher levels of damage and a higher loss of ...

Evaluating the Behaviour Factor of Medium Ductile SMRF Structures

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Civil Engineering, 2017
In seismic codes, the capacity of structures is calculated using capacity design procedure based on the concept of base shear. The critical parameter in this procedure is the behaviour factor (q-factor), which allows designing the structures at the ultimate limit state accounting for their ductility and reserve strength.

Curvature Ductility Factor Of Rectangular Sections Reinforced Concrete Beams

open access: yes, 2012
The present work presents a method of calculating the ductility of rectangular sections of beams considering nonlinear behavior of concrete and steel. This calculation procedure allows us to trace the curvature of the section according to the bending moment, and consequently deduce ductility.
