Theoretical and numerical analysis of reinforced concrete beams with confinement reinforcement

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais
This paper discusses the use of confinement in over-reinforced concrete beams. This reinforcement consists of square stirrups, placed in the compression zone of the beam cross-section, in order to improve its ductility.

Effect of Microstructural Factors on Ductility of Drawn Pearlitic Steels [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of Materials Processing, 2004
The effect of microstructural features on ductility of cold drawn pearlitic steels containing 0.52 ~ 0.92 wt%C was investigated. During wire drawing, reduction of area (Rh) increased initially with the progressive realignment of randomly oriented cementite, showed a maximum peak due to the completion of the alignment of most cementite, and decreased ...

Ductility in concentrically loaded reinforced concrete columns

open access: yes, 2015
In recent years, the use of high-strength concrete materials has been regulated into Australian design standards. The use of high-strength concrete is desirable in many cases.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Experimental study on horizontal bearing behaviors of different types of full-scale piles under reciprocating horizontal loads

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
The field pseudo-static tests on 38 prototype piles in in-situ soil conditions, which contain prestressed pipe piles, prestressed squared piles and bored cast-in-situ piles, are made in a typical soft soil site of Hangu, Tianjin.

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Program Eksperimental Perilaku Siklik Pilar Persegi Berongga Jembatan dengan Beton Berkekuatan Ultra Tinggi

open access: yesJurnal Teknik Sipil, 2015
This paper discusses the hysteretic behavior of Hollow Rectangular Section Piers (HRSP) by applying Ultra High Strength Concrete (UHSC) material. The experimental program conducted in two models of HRSP-UHSC specimens were loaded by combination of a ...

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Effect of Building Configuration on Overstrength Factor and Ductility Factor

open access: yes
It is important for the structure to be economical and still have a high level of life safety. The lateral force sustained by the structures during a large earthquake would be several times larger than the lateral force for which the structures are designed. This is opposite to the fact that design loads such as gravity in codes are usually higher than
