Theoretical and numerical analysis of reinforced concrete beams with confinement reinforcement
This paper discusses the use of confinement in over-reinforced concrete beams. This reinforcement consists of square stirrups, placed in the compression zone of the beam cross-section, in order to improve its ductility.

Effect of Microstructural Factors on Ductility of Drawn Pearlitic Steels [PDF]
The effect of microstructural features on ductility of cold drawn pearlitic steels containing 0.52 ~ 0.92 wt%C was investigated. During wire drawing, reduction of area (Rh) increased initially with the progressive realignment of randomly oriented cementite, showed a maximum peak due to the completion of the alignment of most cementite, and decreased ...

Ductility in concentrically loaded reinforced concrete columns
In recent years, the use of high-strength concrete materials has been regulated into Australian design standards. The use of high-strength concrete is desirable in many cases.

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Effect of Building Configuration on Overstrength Factor and Ductility Factor
It is important for the structure to be economical and still have a high level of life safety. The lateral force sustained by the structures during a large earthquake would be several times larger than the lateral force for which the structures are designed. This is opposite to the fact that design loads such as gravity in codes are usually higher than
