Nonlinear-damped Duffing oscillators having finite time dynamics

open access: yes, 2014
A class of modified Duffing oscillator differential equations, having nonlinear damping forces, are shown to have finite time dynamics, i.e., the solutions oscillate with only a finite number of cycles, and, thereafter, the motion is zero.

Energy‐Associated Splitting Schemes for Closed Nonlinear Port‐Hamiltonian Systems

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT We present splitting methods for port‐Hamiltonian (pH) systems, focusing on the preservation of their internal structure, in particular, the dissipation inequality. Classical high‐order splitting schemes possess negative step sizes, which might cause instabilities and the violation of the dissipation inequality.

Oxygen‐Acceptor‐Driven High Photochromic Contrast Solid‐State Excited‐State Intramolecular Proton Transfer Photoswitches

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
The excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) photoswitch tpmSA, which features an oxygen−acceptor, exhibits higher photochromic contrast (ΔE*Lab>74) than its nitrogen‐acceptor Schiff base analogues (ΔE*Lab<30). Theoretical calculations indicate that tpmSA effectively suppresses GSIPT, thereby enhancing the contrast.

Amplitude–frequency relationship to a fractional Duffing oscillator arising in microphysics and tsunami motion

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2019
Fractional oscillators can effectively deal with noise in the vibration. This paper adopts He’s fractional derivative, which is defined through the variational iteration algorithm.

Lexical inference training for homonyms: Two randomized controlled trials for children with English as a first and an additional language

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Psychology, Volume 96, Issue 2, Page 875-895, June 2026.
Abstract Background Many words have multiple meanings, which present challenges to learning, yet research has yet to identify effective interventions for homonyms. Lexical inference may be a promising strategy. Aim To evaluate a brief, novel lexical inference intervention for homonyms. Samples Children aged 7–8 years (Study 1: N = 180, Study 2: N = 76).

Numerical Solutions for Nonlinear Ordinary and Fractional Duffing Equations Using Combined Fibonacci–Lucas Polynomials

open access: yesAxioms
Two nonlinear Duffing equations are numerically treated in this article. The nonlinear fractional-order Duffing equations and the second-order nonlinear Duffing equations are handled.

Medium‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of Three Metallic Materials and a Welded Steel Following Gaseous Hydrogen Soaking

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 2395-2410, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the impact of hydrogen soaking on the medium‐cycle fatigue behavior of various metallic materials commonly used in gas transmission pipelines. The tested materials include ex‐service gray cast iron, ex‐service X52 carbon steel, brass, and welded X52 carbon steel.

Encoding Cumulation to Learn Perturbative Nonlinear Oscillatory Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
Weak nonlinearities critically shape the long term behavior of oscillatory systems but are difficult to identify from data. A data‐driven framework is introduced to infer governing equations of weakly nonlinear oscillators from sparse and noisy observations.

Reimagining Inclusivity in Literacy Education for African Immigrant Adolescents

open access: yesJournal of Adolescent &Adult Literacy, Volume 69, Issue 6, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study explored how an Afrocentric literacy workshop can reimagine inclusivity in literacy education for African immigrant adolescents. Drawing on Afrocentricity and Transnational Identity Theory, I facilitated a 10‐week virtual literacy workshop with six African immigrant high school students from Nigeria.

Antiperiodic Solutions for a Kind of Nonlinear Duffing Equations with a Deviating Argument and Time-Varying Delay

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2014
This paper deals with a kind of nonlinear Duffing equation with a deviating argument and time-varying delay. By using differential inequality techniques, some very verifiable criteria on the existence and exponential stability of antiperiodic solutions ...
