This study examined time‐dependent changes in gastric emptying after gastrectomy for gastric cancer using a 13C‐acetate breath test with a semi‐solid meal in 95 patients, revealing that gastric emptying was initially delayed at 1 month but significantly accelerated by 12 months postoperatively.

In a prospective study of 20 elderly gastric cancer patients who declined gastrectomy, laparoscopic and endoscopic cooperative surgery (LECS) was technically safe and preserved postoperative function. In this study, we investigated the impact of circular stapler size on both short‐term outcomes and long‐term QOL after McKeown esophagectomy. We revealed that short‐term outcomes, including anastomotic leakage and stenosis, did not differ between patients who underwent anastomosis with a 21 mm stapler and those with a 23 mm stapler.

This multicenter study compared subtotal versus completion gastrectomy for remnant gastric cancer. Subtotal gastrectomy was associated with shorter operative time and significantly less postoperative weight loss, with no difference in long‐term survival, suggesting it as a feasible surgical option without compromising oncologic outcomes.
