ABSTRACTThe African mole‐rat genus Cryptomys comprises five morphologically cryptic lineages distributed across South Africa and in Zimbabwe, historically treated as subspecies of C. hottentotus (C. h. hottentotus, C. h. mahali, C. h. natalensis, C. h. pretoriae and C. h. nimrodi).
