Removal Rates of Native and Exotic Dung by dung Beetles (Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae) in a Fragmented Tropical Rain Forest [PDF]
Many studies have evaluated the effect of forest fragmentation on dung beetle assem- blage structure. However, few have analyzed how forest fragmentation affects the processes carried out by these insects in tropical forests where their food sources ...

The “hidden workers”: livestock farmers’ perceptions of ecosystem services provided by dung beetles
Non-native dung beetles were introduced to Australian agricultural systems to provide ecosystem services, such as pasture cleaning and to control dung-breeding flies, which benefit particularly livestock farmers.

Dung beetles eat acorns to increase their ovarian development and thermal tolerance. [PDF]
Animals eat different foods in proportions that yield a more favorable balance of nutrients. Despite known examples of these behaviors across different taxa, their ecological and physiological benefits remain unclear.

NFYB Integrates Hormonal Signals into Tissue Allometry by Promoting Protein Biosynthesis
In the American cockroach, NFYB acts as a spatiotemporin that translates distinct hormonal cues into tissue‐specific allometry. Juvenile hormone activates NFYB in the early fat body, while 20‐hydroxyecdysone induces it in late wing pads. NFYB then promotes protein biosynthesis via core translational machinery, driving differential growth across the ...
