This article discusses the relationship between peptic ulcer and mucosal inflammation changes in the duodenum (duodenitis) in the light of experience in our centre and a review of recent literature. It is concluded that duodenitis is part of the duodenal ulcer diathesis but is rarely the cause of symptoms.

Duodenal tuberculosis with a choledocho‐duodenal fistula
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2001Abstract A 22‐year‐old man visited our hospital (National Cancer Center Hospital East) complaining of fatigue and anorexia. A laboratory investigation demonstrated a biochemical ‘picture’ of obstructive jaundice. An abdominal CT showed a low density mass in the retropancreatic area with multiple enlarged periportal lymph nodes.

Duodenal “diverticulization” for duodenal and pancreatic injury
The American Journal of Surgery, 1974Abstract Duodenal “diverticulization” has been achieved in thirty-four cases of combined duodenal and pancreatic or severe duodenal or pancreatic injury. The operation consists of gastric antrectomy with end to side gastrojejunostomy, tube duodenostomy, closure of the duodenal perforation, and drainage.

The case history of a 56-year-old woman with an acute abdomen is presented. Laboratory data, a plain abdominal X-ray and ultrasound examination provided no clues for a definite diagnosis. Surprisingly, a duodenal diverticulitis was found at operation. Some aspects and complications of duodenal diverticula are discussed.
