Pancreas sparing duodenectomy in the treatment of primary duodenal neoplasms and other situations with duodenal involvement

Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International, 2021
There are no clearly defined indications for pancreas-preserving duodenectomy. The present study aimed to analyze postoperative morbidity and the outcomes of patients undergoing pancreas-preserving duodenectomy.Patients undergoing pancreas-preserving duodenectomy from April 2008 to May 2020 were included.

Endoscopic and surgical management of nonampullary duodenal neoplasms

Surgical Endoscopy, 2018
Sporadic nonampullary duodenal neoplasms (SNADN) can have malignant potential for which endoscopic and surgical resections are offered. We report combined gastroenterologic and surgical experience for treatment of SNADN, including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and pancreas-preserving partial duodenectomy (PPPD).We retrospectively reviewed 121 ...

Management and Prognosis of Localized Duodenal Neuroendocrine Neoplasms

Neuroendocrinology, 2020
Introduction: The characteristics, prognostic factors, and management of duodenal neuroendocrine neoplasms (dNEN) are ill-defined, given their rarity. Whether nonsurgical management might be appropriate for patients with nonmetastatic dNEN and a good prognosis, as is the case for pancreatic NEN (pNEN), is unknown ...

Laparoscopic Duodenectomy for Benign Nonampullary Duodenal Neoplasms

Surgical Laparoscopy, Endoscopy & Percutaneous Techniques, 2015
The aim of this study was to review our experience with laparoscopic duodenectomy for benign duodenal neoplasms and compare with a contemporary cohort of open duodenectomy.Twelve cases of laparoscopic duodenectomy for benign duodenal tumors not amenable to endoscopic resection and away from the ampulla performed from 2009 to 2011 at our institution ...

Duodenal neoplasms: role of CT.

Radiology, 1987
In a retrospective study of 14 cases of duodenal neoplasms evaluated by computed tomography (CT), there were four primary adenocarcinomas of the duodenum, one lymphoma, five metastatic carcinomas, two duodenal lipomas, one villous adenoma, and one leiomyoma. The CT findings were diagnostic in patients with duodenal lipomas.

Benign Nonampullary Duodenal Neoplasms

Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, 2003
Benign duodenal neoplasms (BDNs) are uncommon, and their optimal management remains undefined. We analyzed all cases of BDN treated at our institution during a 10-year period (January 1990 through January 2000). Data are expressed as median (range). Sixty-two patients were treated for BDNs. The results of histologic examination of their lesions were as

ENDOSCOPIC SUBMUCOSAL DISSECTION FOR SUPERFICIAL DUODENAL NEOPLASMS

Digestive Endoscopy, 2009
Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) has emerged as a novel technique for achieving en bloc resection for superficial neoplasms limited to the mucosa. ESD was originally developed in Japan as a method of endoscopic resection of superficial gastric cancers.

Endoscopic resection of duodenal neoplasms: a single-center study

Surgical Endoscopy, 2010
Premalignant duodenal lesions such as adenomas are rare. Surgical resection has been the standard approach to the treatment of these lesions. Endoscopic resection of superficial premalignant or malignant lesions of the gastrointestinal tract is used with increasing frequency.

Pancreas‐Sparing Total Duodenectomy for Ampullary Duodenal Neoplasms

World Journal of Surgery, 2012
AbstractBackgroundAmpullary and extensive periampullary lesions can be difficult to treat and often require pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) for complete removal, even if benign. However, PD may be overtreatment for noninvasive lesions, and pancreas‐sparing total duodenectomy (PSTD) is an emerging valid surgical option for selected cases.MethodsWe reviewed
