The Effect of a Non-nucleosidic Phenanthrene Building Block on DNA Duplex Stability
Helvetica Chimica Acta, 2002Oligonucleotides containing a phenanthrene-derived, non-nucleosidic building block with flexible linkers were synthesized. The effect of the phenanthrene moiety on duplex stability at different positions was investigated. Placement of two phenanthrene residues in opposite positions had a slightly positive effect on duplex stability.

A duplex infra-red system for in-building communications
36th IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 1986This paper discusses the application of optical links using indirect scatter to in-building portable communications. The design considerations for such systems are described, and the reasons for selecting a time division multiplexed approach with ON-OFF keying.

Demand Evaluation and a Design Approach Transforming Duplex Housing into Green Building
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Promoting green building has become an important policy goal in Taiwan. This paper explores the possibilities of transforming a regular duplex housing unit into a green building. Through an examination of residents’ demand of a selected housing community in Tainan, Taiwan, the demand of green building facilities and services by actual users was ...

Earlier searches using DFT had identified two isomorphic H-bonded pyrimidine base pairs B1:B2 and B3:B4 as possible repeat units for macromolecular H-bonded duplexes with a capacity to store information as in DNA. This DFT study seeks to design repeat units with suitable backbones which can hold a sequence of base pairs in desired order.

The utilization of duplex worm gears in robot manipulator arms: A design, build and test approach
2012 5th Robotics and Mechatronics Conference of South Africa, 2012This paper reports on the design, construction and testing of the manipulator arm that is to be fitted to UCTs Urban Search and Rescue Robot (USRR), named the Ratel. Of particular interest is the utilization of adjustable backlash dual lead (duplex) worm gears in the manipulator arms joints.
