The Role of Duplex Ultrasound in Microsurgical Reconstruction: Review and Technical Considerations
Journal of reconstructive microsurgery, 2020Background With the technological advances, microsurgery has evolved to the era of supermicrosurgery since its inception. With the popularization of these flaps, proficiency in using tools such as color Doppler ultrasound (CDU) has become crucial ...

Technical advances in the field of ultrasound have resulted in the development of a high resolution real-time B-mode imaging system that permits direct Doppler analysis of hemodynamic abnormalities. This system combines both anatomic information and physiological information which permits detailed analysis of the entire spectrum of disease occurring at

Duplex ultrasound in the subclavian steal syndrome
Acta Radiologica, 1998Purpose: the effect of subclavian steal on the contralateral vertebral flow and its possible effect on carotid flow were studied and the US results were compared to the angiographic findings Material and Methods: the study consisted of the records of 74 patients with a duplex Doppler finding of subclavian steal syndrome.

Duplex ultrasound in the evaluation of portacaval shunts
Clinical Radiology, 1987The results of ultrasound imaging combined with Doppler studies of blood flow are presented in two patients with surgical portacaval shunts performed for portal hypertension. Duplex scanning proved a quick and noninvasive method of confirming the patency of the anastomoses.

Duplex ultrasound for superficial venous insufficiency
Techniques in Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2003The most important part of effectively treating a patient with superficial venous insufficiency is making an accurate diagnosis of its cause and creating a map of the incompetent pathways. A history and physical examination can provide a great deal of information; however, a duplex ultrasound examination can definitively identify the pattern of ...

Diameter and depth of femoral vessels by duplex ultrasound
The Journal of Vascular Access, 2023Background: The anatomy of the femoral artery and vein plays an integral role in vascular access. Both technical feasibility and complication rates are associated with femoral vessel diameter and depth. The goal of this study is to establish normative values for common femoral artery (CFA) and vein (CFV) depth ...

Transcranial duplex ultrasound of the ophthalmic artery
Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology, 2006The purpose of this study was to identify the ophthalmic artery (OA) by means of transcranial color-coded sonography using a new approach via the transtemporal bone window and to compare blood flow measurements with values obtained from the transorbital approach. A total of 105 subjects were included. Two individuals had an insufficient unilateral bone
