Effect of Copper Content on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of As‐Cast Refractory MoNbTi Multiprincipal Element Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Copper addition profoundly impacts MoNbTi multiprincipal element alloys. This study reveals copper's dual role, promoting microstructural refinement and strengthening intermetallics at optimal concentrations. An ideal copper content significantly boosts hardness and compressive strength, achieving superior mechanical performance.

The Structural Refinement of Commercial‐Purity Copper Processed by Equal Channel Angular Pressing with Low Strain Amplitude

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Equal channel angular pressing of commercial pure copper under low strain amplitude (≈0.48) induces concurrent continuous and localized discontinuous dynamic recrystallization, forming a duplex structure influenced by strain heterogeneity and recovery. Moderate hardening after 4–12 passes results from progressive high‐angle grain boundary formation via

Study on mechanical properties of aeolian sand solidified by enzyme induced carbonate precipitation combined with fiber reinforced

open access: yesScientific Reports
Aeolian sand is a problematic soil formed by the transfer, transition, and deposition of rock particles in desert areas, which can easily cause land desertification.

A Comprehensive Review of Additive Manufacturing for Space Applications: Materials, Advances, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing (AM) transforms space hardware by enabling lightweight, high‐performance, and on‐demand production. This review outlines AM processes—powder bed fusion (PBF), directed energy deposition (DED), binder jetting (BJ), sheet lamination (SL), and material extrusion (ME)—applied to propulsion, satellite structures, and thermal devices ...

Monitoring the reduction in shrinkage cracking of mortars containing superabsorbent polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is characterized by a low water-to-cement ratio, leading to improved durability and mechanical properties. However, the risk for autogenous shrinkage and cracking due to restrained shrinkage increases, which may ...

Design of Multiphase Compositionally Complex Alloys for Enhanced Hardness at Elevated Temperatures and Machinability: Comparative Study with Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study compares the mechanical properties of Inconel 718 with two newly developed compositionally complex alloys (CCAs). Inco‐like‐H alloy demonstrates significantly improved wear resistance, surface finish, and hardness, notably at high temperatures. This CCA requires no heat treatment and is well suited for additive manufacturing. Its performance

Product durability and trade volatility [PDF]

open access: yes
One of the main causes behind the trade collapse of 2008–09 was a significant fall in the demand for durable goods. This paper develops a small country, overlapping generations model of international trade in which goods durability gives rise to a more ...
