Collusion and Durability [PDF]

open access: yes
We make the observation that cartels which produce goods with lower durability are easier to sustain implicitly. This observation generates the following results: 1) implicit cartels have an incentive to produce goods with an inefficiently low level of ...

Review on the Durability of Polypropylene Fibre-Reinforced Concrete

open access: yes, 2021
Polypropylene fibre (PPF) is a kind of polymer material with light weight, high strength, and corrosion resistance. The crack resistance of concrete can be improved by adding PPFs. PPF can optimize the pore size distribution of concrete. As a result, the

Considerations for Issues of Regression to the Mean and Contextual Effects in Clinical Trials for Pain in Rheumatic Diseases

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Recently, there has been growing discussion about how to best assess pain in clinical trials in rheumatic diseases. Reliable measurement of pain outcomes is essential for accurately determining the effectiveness of treatments. Although pain intensity is the most common measure of change in pain trials, other pain‐related measures, such as pain ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Monitoring the reduction in shrinkage cracking of mortars containing superabsorbent polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is characterized by a low water-to-cement ratio, leading to improved durability and mechanical properties. However, the risk for autogenous shrinkage and cracking due to restrained shrinkage increases, which may ...
