DURABILITY OF ROAD PAVEMENT AGAINST TIDAL INUNDATION [PDF]
Semarang, as one of cities located on the North Coast of Java Island, experienced tidal inundation for years. The presence of inundation has adverse effect on road infrastructure, especially on coastal arterial roads, which most of them made of mixture

A Case‐Based Reasoning Approach to Model Manufacturing Constraints for Impact Extrusion
A hybrid modeling approach is presented that combines constraint‐based process modeling and case‐based reasoning. The model formalizes manufacturing constraints and integrates simulation data to model complex manufacturing processes. The approach supports manufacturability analysis during product design through an adaptive modeling environment.

Local and non-local normalised equivalent strain functionals for cyclic fatigue [PDF]
The concept of Cyclic Normalised Equivalent Strain Functionals (CNESnFs) suitable for lowcyclic fatigue is developed in this paper. It reduces any fatigue strength and durability model to a unique form what facilitates the models comparison ...

Incorporating nanosized silver into titanium for antimicrobial materials exploits the metastable miscibility gap between silver and titanium. Silver nanoparticles are synthesized via pulsed laser ablation in liquid. Silver addition refines the microstructure, increases hardness by 30%, and reduces Staphylococcus capitis microbial adhesion by 70%, with ...

Mechanical properties of aeolian sand cemented via microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP)
The cementation of desert aeolian sand is a key method to control land desertification and dust storms, so an economical, green and durable process to reach the binding between sand grains needs to be searched. The method based on the microbially induced

Multiaxial fatigue of cast aluminium EN AC-42000 T6 (G-AlSi7Mg0.3 T6) for automotive safety components under constant and variable amplitude loading [PDF]
Regarding the fatigue behaviour of EN AC-42000 T6 (A 356 T6), which is the most frequently used cast aluminium alloy for automotive safety components, especially under non-proportional constant and variable normal and shear stress amplitudes with ...

Investigations on the durability of two secondary Pine species(Pinus halepensis, Pinus uncinata) within the scope of the European natural durability standards revision [PDF]
Under the constant pressure to use timber, some wood species, previously considered as secondary and not economically important, are now taken into consideration. Two Pine species, Aleppo Pine (Pinus halepensis) and Mugo Pine (Pinus uncinata) are amongst

The Design of Durable Goods [PDF]
The use of a durable good is limited by both its physical life and usable life. For example, an electric-car battery can last for five years (physical life) or 100,000 miles (usable life), whichever comes first. We propose a framework for examining how a profit-maximizing firm might choose the usable life, physical life, and selling price of a durable

A hybrid system for de‐icing made of gradient polymer coatings, deposited on aluminum coupled with an electromechanical system, is demonstrated as an effective and durable strategy for reducing drastically ice adhesion. The system is capable of detaching ice blocks over the coating in less than 1 s, regardless of the ice type and covered area ...
