Rapidly Evolving Acute Brainstem Syndrome With Respiratory Insufficiency due to Intracranial Dural Arteriovenous Fistula. [PDF]

open access: yesCase Rep Neurol Med
A 52‐year‐old female presented with one week of progressive quadriparesis followed by the development of diplopia, dysphonia and dysphagia over 48 h. Initial impression was of an inflammatory myelitis given mild cerebrospinal fluid pleocytosis and diffuse cervical cord swelling extending to the lower brainstem on MRI.

An aggressive dural arteriovenous fistula manifested by unilateral subcortical calcification and cerebral edema: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2023
Unilateral subcortical calcifications are unique radiographic findings indicating specific focal pathologies. When the lesion is accompanied by edema, cerebral neoplasm usually leads to a differential diagnosis.

Spinal Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Neuroradiology, 2009
Spinal dural arteriovenous (AV) fistulas are the most commonly encountered vascular malformation of the spinal cord and a treatable cause for progressive para- or tetraplegia. They most commonly affect elderly men and are classically found in the thoracolumbar region.

MRI characteristics of lumbosacral dural arteriovenous fistulas

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2023
Background and purposeSpinal dural arteriovenous fistulas located in the lumbosacral region are rare and present with nonspecific clinical signs. The purpose of this study was to find out the specific radiologic features of these fistulas.MethodsWe ...

Intracranial Dural Arteriovenous Fistulae [PDF]

open access: yesStroke, 2017
Intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulae (dAVFs) are typified by pathological anastomoses between meningeal arteries and dural venous sinuses or cortical veins. These fistulae frequently reside within the dural leaflets surrounding a venous sinus, characteristically at the transverse-sigmoid junction but also at the cavernous sinus (CS), superior ...

Cerebral Dural Arteriovenous Fistula [PDF]

open access: yesInterventional Neuroradiology, 2003
Management of cerebral dural arteriovenous fistulae (DAVFs) has long been a subject of debate. With the advent of liquid adhesive embolics and coils, endovascular treatment has been the procedure of choice for most DAVFs. Nonetheless, this modality alone may not completely cure some fistulae. Surgical intervention is warranted in such cases. Therefore,

Differences between CS-DAVF and TCCF——to reveal and redefine CS-DAVF

open access: yesChinese Neurosurgical Journal, 2018
In the past, the cavernous dural arteriovenous fistula was categorized as spontaneous cavernous carotid fistula [1] due to the lack of knowledge and limitation of imaging equipment.

Syringomyelia Associated with Spinal Dural Arteriovenous Fistula: Clinical and Radiological Improvement after Embolization [PDF]

open access: yesNeurointervention, 2020
Spinal dural arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) are rare and can result in spinal cord dysfunction. We present one such case wherein the patient presented with a venous congestive myelopathy.
