Duration and key determinants of infectious virus shedding in hospitalized patients with coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Key questions in COVID-19 are the duration and determinants of infectious virus shedding. Here, we report that infectious virus shedding is detected by virus cultures in 23 of the 129 patients (17.8%) hospitalized with COVID-19.

A long-duration gamma-ray burst with a peculiar origin [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 2022
It is generally believed that long-duration gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are associated with massive star core collapse1, whereas short-duration GRBs are associated with mergers of compact star binaries2.

The design space for long-duration energy storage in decarbonized power systems

open access: yesNature Energy, 2021
Long-duration energy storage (LDES) is a potential solution to intermittency in renewable energy generation. In this study we have evaluated the role of LDES in decarbonized electricity systems and identified the cost and efficiency performance necessary

Chest CT Findings in Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19): Relationship to Duration of Infection

open access: yesRadiology, 2020
In this retrospective study, chest CTs of 121 symptomatic patients infected with coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) from four centers in China from January 18, 2020 to February 2, 2020 were reviewed for common CT findings in relationship to the time ...

Association of sleep duration in middle and old age with incidence of dementia

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Sleep dysregulation is a feature of dementia but it remains unclear whether sleep duration prior to old age is associated with dementia incidence. Using data from 7959 participants of the Whitehall II study, we examined the association between sleep ...

Evidence of anthropogenic impacts on global drought frequency, duration, and intensity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Most climate change detection and attribution studies have focused on mean or extreme temperature or precipitation, neglecting to explore long-term changes in drought characteristics.

The Duration of the Cycle to Get the P Amplitude on A Discrete Electrocardiogram

open access: yesJurnal Rekayasa Elektrika, 2023
The P amplitude value for each cycle has not been carried out even though it is related to indications of atrial hypertrophy. The basic interpretation of the maximum P amplitude under normal conditions is 2.5 small squares on electrocardiogram (ECG ...

SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV, and MERS-CoV viral load dynamics, duration of viral shedding, and infectiousness: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesThe Lancet Microbe, 2020
Background Viral load kinetics and duration of viral shedding are important determinants for disease transmission. We aimed to characterise viral load dynamics, duration of viral RNA shedding, and viable virus shedding of severe acute respiratory ...
