USING AEROSOL REFLECTANCE FOR DUST DETECTION [PDF]
Abstract. In this study we propose an approach for dust detection by aerosol reflectance over arid and urban region in clear sky condition. In urban and arid areas surface reflectance in red and infrared spectral is bright and hence shorter wavelength is required for this detections.

Satellite Observations Show Negligible Impact of Mineral Dust on Cloud Droplet Number
The susceptibility of cloud droplet number concentration Nd to aerosols (β) remains challenging to constrain in satellite observations. This difficulty arises from limitations in representing cloud condensation nuclei, which depend on aerosol size and ...

Comparisons between the distributions of dust and combustion aerosols in MERRA-2, FLEXPART, and CALIPSO and implications for deposition freezing over wintertime Siberia [PDF]
Aerosol distributions have a potentially large influence on climate-relevant cloud properties but can be difficult to observe over the Arctic given pervasive cloudiness, long polar nights, data paucity over remote regions, and periodic diamond dust ...

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact
An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.
