Volatilome and Antinociceptive Activity of the Traditional Preparation and Compounds from Ageratina grandifolia (Regel) R.M. King & H. Rob.

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
Abstract An infusion of Ageratina grandifolia, a traditional preparation, and major compounds [3,5‐diprenyl‐4‐hydroxyacetophenone (1), O‐methylencecalinol (2), encecalin (3), and encecalinol (4)], tested at 10, 31.6, and 100 mg/kg, intragastrically administered, showed a significant antinociceptive effect in both phases of the formalin test in mice ...

Characterization and Variability Analysis of Volatile Metabolites From Acer saccharum Leaves From Québec Region

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Volatile secondary metabolites in plants can serve as valuable biomarkers for the plant's health, stress response, and pest or disease detection. We have investigated the volatilome of Acer saccharum (sugar maple) leaves using two complementary extraction techniques: headspace‐solid phase micro‐extraction coupled with gas chromatography‐mass ...

Characterization of the Volatile Compounds of the Hardwood Portion of Betula papyrifera Marshall From Quebec, Canada

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
The volatile profile of Betula papyrifera hardwood has been characterized using both hydrodistillation and HS‐SPME coupled with GC‐MS/FID. Hydrodistillation yields a fatty acid‐rich essential oil, while HS‐SPME reveals a broader range of low‐molecular‐weight volatiles, including aromatics and terpenoids.

Direct Quantification of Ammonia and Alkylamines in Aqueous Environments Using Solid‐Phase Microextraction‐Gas chromatography‐Mass spectrometry

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, EarlyView.
Fast and Facile! The use of a solid‐phase microextraction fiber allows direct sampling of aqueous solutions of ammonia for quantification using gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry (GC‐MS). The technique is insensitive to the presence of organic cosolvents or transition‐metal ions, making it particularly well suited for the analysis of catalytic ...
