Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxies

1992
The properties of dwarf spheroidals are reviewed with emphasis on the newly discovered Sextans system, as well as on the star formation histories, the dark matter content and the abundance — luminosity relation of these galaxies. The relation of dwarf spheroidals to other dwarf galaxies is also discussed.

Searches for dwarf spheroidal galaxies

Astrophysics, 1975
1. Dwarf spheroidal galaxies are encountered, it would seem, more often than previously assumed [9]. 2. The tendency for them to be concentrated around galaxies of high luminosities [8, 9] is not very pronounced. 3. The distribution of Sculptor type dwarfs in the space we studied is not uniform.

The Origin of the Diversity of Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxies

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
We present a large sample of 166 fully self‐consistent hydrodynamical N‐body/Tree‐SPH simulations of isolated dwarf spheroidal galaxies [1]. It has enabled us to identify the key physical parameters and mechanisms at the origin of the observed variety in the Local Group dSph properties.
