Quantum dwell times

open access: yes, 2004
We put forward several inherently quantum characteristics of the dwell time, and propose an operational method to detect them. The quantum dwell time is pointed out to be a conserved quantity, totally bypassing Pauli's theorem. Furthermore, the quantum dwell time in a region for one dimensional motion is doubly degenerate.

Graph-Based Minimum Dwell Time and Average Dwell Time Computations for Discrete-Time Switched Linear Systems

open access: yesCoRR, 2014
Discrete-time switched linear systems where switchings are governed by a digraph are considered. The minimum (or average) dwell time that guarantees the asymptotic stability can be computed by calculating the maximum cycle ratio (or maximum cycle mean) of a doubly weighted digraph where weights depend on the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of subsystem ...

Dynamic train dwell time forecasting: a hybrid approach to address the influence of passenger flow fluctuations

open access: yesRailway Engineering Science, 2023
Train timetables and operations are defined by the train running time in sections, dwell time at stations, and headways between trains. Accurate estimation of these factors is essential to decision-making for train delay reduction, train dispatching, and

IMPACT OF DWELL TIME DISTRIBUTION ON LOCATION MANAGEMENT IN CELLULAR NETWORKS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2018
This paper presents dwell time distribution based optimal reporting cell planning (RCP) for location management in wireless cellular networks. Dwell time parameter is critically dependent on users’ behavior within the network.

Analyzing dwell times with the Generalized Method of Moments

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2018
Abstract The Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) is a statistical method for the analysis of samples from random processes. First developed for the analysis of econometric data, the method is here formulated to extract hidden kinetic parameters from measurements of single molecule dwell times.

Modeling Dwell Time Engagement on Visual Multimedia [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 25th ACM SIGKDD International Conference on Knowledge Discovery & Data Mining, 2019
Visual multimedia is one of the most prevalent sources of modern online content and engagement. However, despite its prevalence, little is known about user engagement with such content. For instance, how can we model engagement for a specific content or viewer sample, and across multiple samples? Can we model and discover patterns in these interactions,

Quantum Reflection and Dwell Times of Metastable States [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2007
The concept of phase and dwell times used in tunneling is extended to quantum collisions to derive a relation between the phase and dwell time delays in scattering. This relation can be used to remove the near threshold s-wave singularities in the Wigner-Eisenbud delay times and amounts to an extension of the concept of quantum reflection to strong ...

Determinants of Bus Dwell Time

open access: yesJournal of Public Transportation, 2004
Bus dwell time data collection typically involves labor intensive ride checks. This paper reports an analysis of bus dwell times that use archived automatic vehicle location (AVL)/automatic passenger counter (APC) data reported at the level of individual bus stops. The archived data provide a large number of observations that serve to better understand

Absolute stability of switched lurie systems

open access: yesApplied Mathematics in Science and Engineering
This paper investigates the absolute stability problem of switched Lurie systems. Based on two new switched time-varying Lyapunov-Lurie functions, sufficient conditions for the absolute stability of the switched Lurie systems are provided under the ...

Modelling of attentional dwell time

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2010
Studies of the time course of visual attention have identified a temporary functional blindness to the second of two spatially separated targets: attending to one visual stimulus may lead to impairments in identifying a second stimulus presented between 200 to 500 ms after the first. This phenomenon is known as attentional dwell time (e.g. Duncan, Ward,
