Uncertainty quantification for overshoots of tipping thresholds [PDF]
Many subsystems of the Earth system, which are currently closely following a stable state, are at risk of undergoing abrupt transitions to a drastically different, and often less desired, state due to anthropogenic climate change. These so-called tipping

Integrating experimental insights with molecular dynamics simulations, we establish an advanced mathematical model for fluids confined in sub‐10‐nm channels, enabling quantitative prediction of interfacial layer thickness and viscosity by accounting for channel material, temperature, and fluid properties.

A causality-based method for multi-model comparison: application to relationships between atmospheric, oceanic and marine biogeochemical variables [PDF]
We introduce a novel causality-based approach to compare Earth system model outputs. The method is based on the PCMCI+ algorithm, which identifies causal relationships between multiple variables.

A coaxial, membrane‐integrated hollow fiber electrode assembly (HFEA) is developed for continuous marine carbon mineralization. By utilizing a sub‐millimeter inter‐electrode gap, the HFEA minimizes Ohmic losses, achieving 50% energy reduction and over 85% DIC removal.

Morphological Model for Erosion Prediction of India’s Largest Braided River Using MIKE 21C Model
The Brahmaputra River has a dynamic, highly braided channel pattern with frequent river bar formation, making it morphologically very dynamic, especially during the monsoon season with high discharge and sediment load. To understand how the river changes

P-T path development derived from shearband boudin microstructure
© 2016 Elsevier Ltd This work focuses on the development of a regional P-T-path from the Malpica-Lamego Ductile Shear Zone, NW Portugal, based on the microstructures of shearband boudins evolved during progressive simple shear.

The Impact of Salt Tectonics on the Thermal Evolution and the Petroleum System of Confined Rift Basins: Insights from Basin Modeling of the Nordkapp Basin, Norwegian Barents Sea [PDF]
Although the thermal effect of large salt tongues and allochthonous salt sheets in passive margins is described in the literature, little is known about the thermal effect of salt structures in confined rift basins where sub-vertical, closely spaced salt

Hemp Cultivation and Crop Diversification: Implications for Ecosystem Services in Kentucky
ABSTRACT This study examines the ecosystem benefits of expanding hemp cultivation by assessing its impact on crop diversity. Using scenario‐based simulations and fixed‐effect panel regressions with county‐level data in Kentucky, we find that increased hemp acreage tends to enhance crop diversity, improving water quality and bird diversity.

Paleogeographic numerical modeling of marginal seas for the Holocene – an exemplary study of the Baltic Sea [PDF]
The sustainable management of marginal seas is based on a thorough understanding of their evolutionary trends in the past. The paleogeographic evolution of marginal seas is controlled not only by global and regional driving forces (eustatic sea-level ...
