Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation for Bandwidth Asymmetry Wireless Networks

2007 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2007
This paper addresses when and how to adjust bandwidth allocations between uplink and downlink in a multi-service wireless network with bandwidth asymmetry under dynamic traffic load conditions. A new distributed multi-service admission control policy is developed first to guarantee the call level QoS requirements.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation for ATM switches

Journal of Applied Probability, 1996
We explore a dynamic approach to the problems of call admission and resource allocation for communication networks with connections that are differentiated by their quality of service requirements. In a dynamic approach, the amount of spare resources is estimated on-line based on feedbacks from the network's quality of service monitoring mechanism. The

Dynamic bandwidth allocation to virtual paths

1998 IEEE International Performance, Computing and Communications Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.98CH36191), 2002
An important problem associated with virtual paths is to determine the bandwidths that should be allocated to the set of virtual paths in the network. The bandwidth allocation to virtual path has strong impact on network throughput, signaling and call blocking QoS.

Content-based dynamic network bandwidth allocation

IEEE GLOBECOM 1998 (Cat. NO. 98CH36250), 2002
In networks that can support only a small number of concurrent video streams (e.g. in wireless and access networks), dynamic resource allocation (DRA) may be used to increase the network utilization. The efficiency of real-time DRA scheme depends on accuracy of stream resource prediction and frequency of renegotiation.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation for Internet telephony

Computer Communications, 2004
Internet telephony is promising for long-distance calls because of its low service charge and value-added functions. To provide Internet telephony to the general public, a service provider can operate a telephone gateway in each servicing city to bridge the local telephone network and the Internet, so that users can use telephones or fax machines to ...

Dynamic bandwidth allocation in mobile hotspots

2012 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2012
Resource management in mobile hotspots is an interesting and challenging issue. In this paper, we propose a dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) scheme consisted of call admission control and bandwidth adjustment functions to lower handoff vehicle dropping probability and efficiently utilize a resource of a base station.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation in a network

ACM SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review, 1988
Recently protocols have been introduced which enable us to integrate periodic traffic (voice or video) and aperiodic traffic (data) and to extend the size of local area networks without any loss in speed and capacity. One of these, the DRAMA protocol, is based on broadband technology and allows for dynamic allocation of bandwidth to ...

A fuzzy dynamic bandwidth re-allocator

IEEE CCECE2002. Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.02CH37373), 2003
A high-speed network typically assigns each admitted connection a fixed bandwidth, somewhere between its mean and peak transmission rate. As an alternative, we develop a novel scheme for re-assigning network resources periodically on the basis of current network conditions.

Intelligent dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm for metro networks

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
A novel dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm named GTH-DBA is proposed for metro networks. A testbed is constructed to test its performance. Numeric results show that this algorithm is effective to improve the bandwidth efficiency of the metro networks.

Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation in SIP based MPLS

21st International Conference on Advanced Networking and Applications (AINA '07), 2007
With the migration of real-time applications such as voice onto IP-based platforms, the existing IP network capabilities become inadequate to provide the quality-of- service (QoS) levels that the end-users are accustomed to. While new protocols such as DiffServ and MPLS allow some amount of traffic prioritization, guaranteed QoS requires admission ...
