The dynamic relationship between plant architecture and competition

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2014
In this review structural and functional changes are described in single species, even-aged, stands undergoing competition for light. Theories of the competition process as interactions between whole plants have been advanced but have not been ...

Dynamics analysis for a discrete dynamic competition model

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2019
In this paper, the dynamics of a discrete market share attraction model are investigated. It shows that the system can undergo flip bifurcation and chaos.

Does Participation Intention Equal Participation Behavior? The Role of Dynamic Competition in Crowdsourcing Contests

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research
Crowdsourcing contest platforms provide enterprises with opportunities to seek external resources at a lower cost. Increasing the participation of solvers is the key to improving the success of crowdsourcing contests. Many previous studies attempt to use

Cournot-Nash Equilibrium and Perfect Competition in the Solow-Uzawa Growth Model

open access: yesRevista CEA, 2021
The purpose of this study is to contribute to economic growth theory by introducing Cournot competition into the Solow-Uzawa neoclassical growth model with Zhang’s concept of disposable income and utility function. The Solow-Uzawa two-sector growth model

Advertising dynamics and competitive advantage [PDF]

open access: yesThe RAND Journal of Economics, 2007
Can advertising lead to a sustainable competitive advantage? To answer this question, we propose a dynamic model of advertising competition where firms repeatedly advertise, compete in the product market, and make entry as well as exit decisions.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Dynamic Competition with Network Externalities: Why History Matters

open access: yesSocial Science Research Network, 2016
We consider dynamic competition among platforms in a market with network externalities. A platform that dominated the market in the previous period becomes “focal” in the current period, in that agents play the equilibrium in which they adopt the focal ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
