Increased Ocular Pulse Amplitude Associated with Unilateral Dysgenesis of the Orbital Roof

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmology, 2015
Introduction: Two patients (one with neurofibromatosis type 1) presented with unilateral ocular pulsation. Methods: A CT scan of the orbits revealed extensive dysgenesis of the orbital roof with herniation of the frontal lobe into the orbit in both cases.

Context Tree based Image Contour Coding using A Geometric Prior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
If object contours in images are coded efficiently as side information, then they can facilitate advanced image / video coding techniques, such as graph Fourier transform coding or motion prediction of arbitrarily shaped pixel blocks. In this paper, we study the problem of lossless and lossy compression of detected contours in images.

Incidence and risk factors of nocturnal penetrations and aspirations in patients with obstructive sleep apnea during drug‐induced sedation endoscopy

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 1, February 2025.
Summary Obstructive sleep apnea has been linked to an increased risk of pneumonia, possibly due to higher rates of nighttime aspirations. Few studies have directly investigated such aspirations in individuals with sleep apnea. This retrospective study included 142 adult patients with obstructive sleep apnea who underwent drug‐induced sedation endoscopy

Predicting Candidacy for Unilateral Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation Without Drug‐Induced Sleep Endoscopy

open access: yesOTO Open, Volume 9, Issue 1, January-March 2025.
Abstract Objective Patients undergo a drug‐induced sleep endoscopy before unilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulation. This study aims to reduce the need for preoperative drug‐induced sleep endoscopy by predicting favorable collapse patterns at the velum based on clinical examination and sleep study data.

Measurement of Intraocular Pressure with Applanation, Dynamic Contour, and Air-Puff Tonometers: A Comparative Study in Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma and Healthy Cases

open access: yesBeyoglu Eye Journal, 2020
INTRODUCTION[|]This study aimed to investigate and compare the reliability of Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT), dynamic contour (DCT), and noncontact (NCT) tonometers in intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement and the affecting parameters in healthy ...

Interacting Contour Stochastic Gradient Langevin Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We propose an interacting contour stochastic gradient Langevin dynamics (ICSGLD) sampler, an embarrassingly parallel multiple-chain contour stochastic gradient Langevin dynamics (CSGLD) sampler with efficient interactions. We show that ICSGLD can be theoretically more efficient than a single-chain CSGLD with an equivalent computational budget.

Chronic hyperglycemia alters retinal astrocyte microstructure and uptake of cholera toxin B in a murine model of diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 169, Issue 1, January 2025.
Compared to control animals, retinal astrocytes from diabetic animals increase the frequency of pad motifs while decreasing extension of bristle motifs. They additionally uptake more exogenous cholera toxin B (CTB) than control. When diabetic conditions are coupled with intravitreal injury, increases in both pads and bristles occur. A large increase in

Modalities of Tonometry and their Accuracy with Respect to Corneal Thickness and Irregularities

open access: yesJournal of Optometry, 2008
Recent advances in tonometry have led to the development of a number of devices with differing clinical applications. Their role in cases of abnormal corneal thickness and surface irregularities is particularly important, as inaccurate estimation of the ...

Dynamic Maintenance of Half-Space Depth for Points and Contours [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Half-space depth (also called Tukey depth or location depth) is one of the most commonly studied data depth measures because it possesses many desirable properties for data depth functions. The data depth contours bound regions of increasing depth. For the sample case, there are two competing definitions of contours: the rank-based contours and the ...
