The dynamics of correlated novelties [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2014
AbstractNovelties are a familiar part of daily life. They are also fundamental to the evolution of biological systems, human society and technology. By opening new possibilities, one novelty can pave the way for others in a process that Kauffman has called “expanding the adjacent possible”.

Dynamic correlations in stochastic rotation dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2006
The dynamic structure factor, vorticity and entropy density dynamic correlation functions are measured for Stochastic Rotation Dynamics (SRD), a particle based algorithm for fluctuating fluids. This allows us to obtain unbiased values for the longitudinal transport coefficients such as thermal diffusivity and bulk viscosity.

Dynamical and Correlation Properties of the Internet [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2001
The description of the Internet topology is an important open problem, recently tackled with the introduction of scale-free networks. In this paper we focus on the topological and dynamical properties of real Internet maps in a three years time interval. We study higher order correlation functions as well as the dynamics of several quantities.

Generalized correlation for biomolecular dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, 2005
AbstractCorrelated motions in biomolecules are often essential for their function, e.g., allosteric signal transduction or mechanical/thermodynamic energy transport. Because correlated motions in biomolecules remain difficult to access experimentally, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are particular useful for their analysis.

Dynamics, correlations, and phases of the micromaser [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 1996
The micromaser possesses a variety of dynamical phase transitions parametrized by the flux of atoms and the time-of-flight of the atom within the cavity. We discuss how these phases may be revealed to an observer outside the cavity using the long-time correlation length in the atomic beam.

Return and Volatility Spillovers across Equity Markets in Mainland China, Hong Kong and the United States

open access: yesEconometrics, 2015
Examinations of the dynamics of daily returns and volatility in stock markets of the U.S., Hong Kong and mainland China (Shanghai and Shenzhen) over 2 January 2001 to 8 February 2013 suggest: (1) evidence of unidirectional return spillovers from the U.S.
