Electronic structure of crystalline binary and ternary Cd-Te-O compounds

open access: yes, 2004
The electronic structure of crystalline CdTe, CdO, $\alpha$-TeO$_2$, CdTeO$_3$ and Cd$_3$TeO$_6$ is studied by means of first principles calculations. The band structure, total and partial density of states, and charge densities are presented.

Substrate Stress Relaxation Regulates Cell‐Mediated Assembly of Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone‐based viscoelastic substrates with tunable stress relaxation reveal how matrix mechanics regulates cellular mechanosensing and cell‐mediated matrix remodelling in the stiff regime. High stress relaxation promotes assembly of fibronectin fibril‐like structures, increased nuclear localization of YAP and formation of β1 integrin‐enriched ...

Quantum thermodynamics at critical points during melting and solidification processes

open access: yes, 2014
We systematically explore and show the existence of finite-temperature continuous quantum phase transition (CTQPT) at a critical point, namely, during solidification or melting such that the first-order thermal phase transition is a special case within ...

Emergence of Light‐Transforming Layered Hybrid Halide Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The emerging class of light‐transforming layered halide perovskite materials is reviewed, outlining challenges for their development and perspectives toward application in the future. Abstract Layered hybrid halide perovskites (LHPs) have attracted considerable attention in optoelectronics.

Covalent Organic Frameworks: From Materials Design to Biomedical Application

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2017
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are newly emerged crystalline porous polymers with well-defined skeletons and nanopores mainly consisted of light-weight elements (H, B, C, N and O) linked by dynamic covalent bonds. Compared with conventional materials,

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

C$_4$N$_3$H monolayer: A novel two-dimensional organic Dirac material with high Fermi velocity

open access: yes, 2017
Searching for two-dimensional (2D) organic Dirac materials, which have more adaptable practical applications in comparing with inorganic ones, is of great significance and has been ongoing.

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).
