Dynamic and static fatigue on high deflection structures

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2018
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">There are several types of structures and components in a vehicle that are developed to work as a mechanism, such as springs, torsion bars, axles and others. They are structures, since they consist of one solid body, without any motion joints but with degrees of freedom, granted ...

Dynamic deflection and capacitance of micromachined piezoelectric benders

Proceedings of IEEE 48th Annual Symposium on Frequency Control, 2002
Micromachined piezoelectric heterogeneous bimorphs have been fabricated using the techniques of IC fabrication. The voltage across the piezoelectric element of a heterogeneous bender causes it to contract or expand while the passive element is compressed or elongated and responds with a counterforce, thus building up a moment, which bends the structure.

On the Finite Deflection Dynamics of Thin Elastic Beams

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1971
A dynamic theory of thin beams undergoing large deflection but small strain is derived. Geometric nonlinearities are preserved but the material is assumed to behave linearly. Contributions due to rotatory inertia, shear deformation, and axial stress resultants are included. The resulting equations are analyzed by characteristic techniques.

Force-Deflection Relations From Dynamic Tests

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1967
A method is developed for determining the dynamic force-deflection relation of a one-degree of freedom hysteretic structure from the steady-state response to sinusoidal excitation. The data needed are the resonant frequency and the equivalent viscous damping factor, as defined in the paper, as functions of the amplitude of steady-state response.

Large deflection dynamic analysis of space frames

Computers & Structures, 1996
A robust numerical procedure based on the incremental secant stiffness concept for a large deflection static and dynamic analysis of space frames is described. The proposed method is capable of handling the nonlinear static post-buckling and dynamic analysis of space frames undergoing arbitrarily large rotations in three dimensional space efficiently ...

Optimal structural design for given dynamic deflection

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1969
Abstract This paper is concerned with optimal design of structures of various types that are excited to harmonic vibrations by a single load, the intensity of which varies harmonically with time. Amplitude and frequency of this load are prescribed as well as the “dynamic response” of the structure, which is defined as the virtual work of the load ...
