The principles that govern fluid motion in normal blood vessels can still be best approached by using the classic Poiseuille model. This law states that the ratio of the pressure gradient (PI - P2) to flow (Q) is a function of the tube dimensions and the viscosity (μ) of the moving fluid: $$\frac{{P1 - P2}} {Q} = \frac{{8\mu L}} {{\pi (r^4 )}} $$

In 1951, Loebenstein and Deitz [1] described an innovative gas adsorption technique that did not require the use of a vacuum. They adsorbed nitrogen out of a mixture of nitrogen and helium that was passed back and forth over the sample between two burettes by raising and lowering attached mercury columns.

Annual Technical Meeting, 1973
Abstract The new analysis technique of Annular Flow Dynamics is a simple, practical way to predict and control rheology and hydraulics in drilling fluid systems. It is based on field experience in the sloughing shale areas of Canada and on a recently developed method of calculating annular pressure losses with ...

Abstract A dynamic flow birefringence theory is proposed for macromolecular solutions of arbitrary structure. Hydrodynamic interaction between macromolecular elements was examined by the Oseen method. It was shown that the dynamo-optical constant [n] is determined by the mechanical (via the rotary diffusion constant) and optical properties of the ...

Flow dynamics through spinal needles
Anaesthesia, 1997We examined the flow pattern produced when liquid dye was actively injected into a fluid medium at various flows through five different commonly used spinal needles. At all flows, the Whitacre‐type needles produced a directional stream exiting at an angle from the longitudinal axis. At intermediate rates the stream developed tracks which disappeared at

Transport models in the preceding chapters focused on contaminant, or solute, transport. We derived basic conservation laws that governed how the solutes were advected and dispersed throughout the medium, and we imposed relations that governed the kinetics of adsorption of those solutes. The subject of contaminant transport is just one aspect of porous

Droplet dynamics in rotating flows
Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2016This paper deals with investigations of droplet dynamics in rotating flows. In many previous studies droplet dynamics was analyzed in simple unidirectional flows. To fill this gap, the focus of this study is an overview on investigations of droplet dynamics in a complex rotating flow.
