Investment Frictions and Leverage Dynamics
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2006I examine the effect of investment frictions on leverage dynamics, using a model of the firm whose investments are 1) indivisible and lumpy, and 2) subject to time-to-build, which is a time lag between when investment expenditures are made and when the investment begins to generate cash.

Consider the sliding of a block on a substrate under boundary lubrication conditions. To the block is connected a spring (force constant k s ) and the free end of the spring is moving with the velocity v s . Depending on the parameter values (k s , v s ) the motion of the block may be either steady or of stick-slip nature.

Polarization Clouds and Dynamical Friction
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1971We argue that dynamical friction can be viewed as the drag exerted on a ‘test’ star by the wake it induces in the field stars. We compute the wakes for the uniform infinite medium and a flat rotating sheet. In the first case we obtain a result which differs by a factor of two from the classical result. In the second case the drag vanishes.

Dynamic Friction Polishing: Applications
2013With the process and material removal mechanisms of the DFP discussed in the previous two chapters, this chapter will concentrate on the applications of the techniques in polishing single crystalline diamond, polycrystalline diamond, PCD composites, and CVD diamond wafers/films. It will show that the polishing of single crystal diamond using DFP method

Friction-Maintained Dynamic Stability
2011Mechanical systems relying on Coulomb friction to maintain dynamic stability may suffer a dynamic instability if exposed to an initial displacement exceeding a system-specific threshold. In fluid systems, even small values of negative damping are sufficient to drive the dynamic instability with sufficiently large initial displacement.
