CONCURRENT MAP BUILDING AND LOCALIZATION ON INDOOR DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENTS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2002
A system that builds and maintains a dynamic map for a mobile robot is presented. A learning rule associated to each observed landmark is used to compute its robustness. The position of the robot during map construction is estimated by combining sensor readings, motion commands, and the current map state by means of an Extended Kalman Filter.

A Robust Localization Method in Indoor Dynamic Environment

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Abstract Localization is one of the core technologies for mobile robots to achieve full autonomous movement, and is a prerequisite for other autonomous tasks. The robot working environment is dynamic in most cases, so the localization algorithm must overcome the effects of dynamic changes in the environment.

DARGS: Dynamic AR Guiding System for Indoor Environments [PDF]

open access: yesComputers, 2017
Complex public buildings, such as airports, use various systems to guide people to a certain destination. Such approaches are usually implemented by showing a floor plan that has guiding signs or color coded lines on the floor. With a technology that supports six degrees of freedom (6DoF) tracking in indoor environments, it is possible to guide people ...

A SLAM-Based Localization and Navigation System for Social Robots: The Pepper Robot Case

open access: yesMachines, 2023
Robot navigation in indoor environments has become an essential task for several applications, including situations in which a mobile robot needs to travel independently to a certain location safely and using the shortest path possible.

YPD-SLAM: A Real-Time VSLAM System for Handling Dynamic Indoor Environments

open access: yesItalian National Conference on Sensors, 2022
Aiming at the problem that Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) is greatly disturbed by many dynamic elements in the actual environment, this paper proposes a real-time Visual SLAM (VSLAM) algorithm to deal with a dynamic indoor environment ...

Self-Organizing Distributed Architecture Supporting Dynamic Space Expanding and Reducing in Indoor LBS Environment

open access: yesSensors, 2015
Indoor location-based services (iLBS) are extremely dynamic and changeable, and include numerous resources and mobile devices. In particular, the network infrastructure requires support for high scalability in the indoor environment, and various resource

Spectral analysis for long-term robotic mapping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper presents a new approach to mobile robot mapping in long-term scenarios. So far, the environment models used in mobile robotics have been tailored to capture static scenes and dealt with the environment changes by means of ‘memory decay’. While
