Anterior Myocardial Infarction With Dynamic Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2011We present the case of a 78-year-old woman who presented with acute anterior myocardial infraction. An intraoperative transesophageal echocardiogram revealed an akinetic apex with hyperkinesis of the basal segments causing systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve. The patient was immediately placed on cardiopulmonary bypass.

Anomalous Papillary Muscle Producing Dynamic Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction
Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography, 1991A patient with a dynamic left ventricular outflow murmur was shown to have an anomalous anterolateral papillary muscle by transthoracic and transesophageal two-dimensional Doppler echocardiography. High late systolic outflow velocity and systolic anterior motion were demonstrated in the lateral outflow tract near the anomalous muscle, suggesting a role

Beta-blocker therapy for dynamic left-ventricular outflow tract obstruction
International Journal of Cardiology, 2002In a small but significant group of elderly patients who present with breathlessness, dynamic left-ventricular outflow tract obstruction (DLVOTO) may be responsible for symptom generation. The aim of our study was to investigate the effect of beta-blockade on ventricular physiology and symptoms in patients with DLVOTO.We performed a pilot study in 15 ...

Dynamic Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction Complicating Bilateral Lung Transplantation
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2002Dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (DLVOTO) has been observed in a variety of clinical circumstances but not previously reported in the setting of orthotopic lung transplantation. Diagnosis and effective management of this adverse event were facilitated by transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).Dynamic left ventricular outflow tract ...

Dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction
2020Left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction is often clinically unrecognized unless echocardiographic assessment is performed. Its occurrence is favoured by anatomical factors (i.e. concentric or asymmetrical hypertrophy, excess tissue in mitral valve), hypovolemia and adrenergic stimulation and can occur in various conditions including ...

Catecholamine therapy inducing dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction
International Journal of Cardiology, 2005Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy with significant hypertrophy of the basal septum is the most frequently reported cause of left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction. Additionally, other conditions such as dehydration, sepsis, vasodilatation, or mitral valve repair have been associtaed with LVOT obstruction.

Witnessed Massive Pulmonary Thromboembolism and Dynamic Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction
Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography, 2009The authors describe a patient with a floating thrombus in the right heart that migrated into the pulmonary artery, causing on-site massive pulmonary thromboembolism during echocardiography and systolic anterior motion of the anterior mitral leaflet resulting in significant dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction.

Severe Dynamic Obstruction of the Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Induced by Dobutamine
Echocardiography, 2000We present the case of a 63‐year‐old man who developed a subaortic gradient of 182 mmHg during an echocardiographic pharmacological stress study with dobutamine. (ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY, Volume 17, January 2000)

Patients with apical ballooning syndrome may develop dynamic left ventricular outflow obstruction due to systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve leaflet and secondary functional mitral regurgitation, causing decreased cardiac output and hypotension. If suspected, bedside echocardiography will quickly confirm this complication.
