Dynamic Wind Loading of Heliostats

open access: yesSolarPACES Conference Proceedings
A method for the design of heliostats considering dynamic wind loads is presented. The transient FEM simulation is based on a CAD model of the heliostat and a pressure distribution time series measured in a wind tunnel.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Evolution of Permeability and Sensitivity Analysis of Gas-Bearing Coal under Cyclic Dynamic Loading

open access: yesApplied Sciences
It is imperative to conduct experimental studies on the seepage behavior of gas-bearing coal under cyclic dynamic loading conditions. This paper focuses on the evolution of coal permeability under the combined effects of dynamic loading, static loading ...

Modelling of Dynamic Strain Aging with a Dislocation-Based Isotropic Hardening Model and Investigation of Orthogonal Loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Based on experimental results, a dislocation material model describing the dynamic strain aging\ud effect at different temperatures is presented. One and two stage loading tests were performed in\ud order to investigate the influence of the loading ...

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Influence of Load Frequency on Cohesive Soil Respond

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
The mechanism of cohesive soils response to cycling loading is less investigated compared to cohesionless soils. Multiple load-unload cycles cause significant changes in the structure of cohesive soils, which result in complex behaviour under the given ...

Simplified Method for Defining 2-Dimensional Design Failure Curve of Marine Silty Sand under Dynamic Loading

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
Global warming is becoming worse owing to carbon dioxide emissions around the world, and eco-friendly energy for reducing carbon dioxide emissions is gaining importance. Wind power plants are the most representative of the environmentally friendly energy

The dynamics of replication licensing in live Caenorhabditis elegans embryos [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Accurate DNA replication requires proper regulation of replication licensing, which entails loading MCM-2-7 onto replication origins. In this paper, we provide the first comprehensive view of replication licensing in vivo, using video microscopy of ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...
