Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Dynamic modelling of a ground-coupled solar ejector cooling system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sustainable Energy, 2022
This work presents a solar-driven air conditioning system based on ejector technology with closed-loop vertical geothermal boreholes. Modeling and simulation are carried out using Dymola software for dynamic transient analysis, with the refrigerant R134a.

Modelling and simulation of a quad-rotor helicopter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Small size quad-rotor helicopters are often used due to the simplicity of their construction and maintenance, their ability to hover and also to take-off and land vertically.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Research on MDO of Ship Propulsion Shafting Dynamics Considering the Coupling Effect of a Propeller-Shafting-Hull System

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2023
Dynamic designs for ship propulsion shafting can be categorised as complex multi-disciplinary coupling systems. The traditional single disciplinary optimisation design method has become a bottleneck, restricting the further improvement of shafting design.

Dynamics of Immunological Models

open access: yesActa Biotheoretica, 2010
We analyse the effect of the regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the local control of the immune responses by T cells. We obtain an explicit formula for the level of antigenic stimulation of T cells as a function of the concentration of T cells and the parameters of the model.

Nonparametric Bayes dynamic modelling of relational data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Symmetric binary matrices representing relations are collected in many areas. Our focus is on dynamically evolving binary relational matrices, with interest being on inference on the relationship structure and prediction.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
