The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Use of PDA Dynamic Test Results in Determining the Bearing Capacity of Single Pile in Marine Structures by Artificial Neural Networks

open access: yesنشریه مهندسی دریا, 2020
In this study, using the results of 100 PDA dynamic loading tests obtained from different projects and using three types of artificial neural networks (ANN), the loading capacity of a single pile is evaluated.

Modeling the infiltration rate of wastewater infiltration basins considering water quality parameters using different artificial neural network techniques

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2022
Predicting the infiltration rate (IR) of treated wastewater (TWW) is essential in controlling clogging problems. Most researchers that predict the IR using neural network models considered the characteristics parameters of soil without considering  those

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Constitutive modelling of fabric effect on sand liquefaction

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2023
Sand liquefaction under static and dynamic loading can cause failure of embankments, slopes, bridges and other important infrastructure. Sand liquefaction in the seabed can also cause submarine landslides and tsunamis.

Self-organization without conservation: Are neuronal avalanches generically critical?

open access: yes, 2010
Recent experiments on cortical neural networks have revealed the existence of well-defined avalanches of electrical activity. Such avalanches have been claimed to be generically scale-invariant -- i.e.

Analysis of temperature effects near mode I cracks in glassy polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A previous isothermal study has shown that the toughness of glassy polymers is governed by the competition between shear yielding and crazing. The present work aims at investigating loading rates for which thermal effects need to be accounted for.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Scraper Face Conveyors Dynamic Load Control

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института, 2019
The task of controlling the dynamic loading of scraper face conveyors (SC) is considered and the unsatisfactory state of loading of mechanical and electrical components of the SC is recorded. The possibility of the appearance of a self-oscillatory nature

Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Slag Mortar with Alkali-Resistant Glass Fiber

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
To investigate the influence of alkali-resistant glass fiber on the dynamic mechanical properties and microstructure of slag cement mortar (SCM), five SCM blocks with different volumes of alkali-resistant glass fiber (0%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1%) were
