Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Dynamics and pragmatics for high performance concurrency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This thesis is concerned with support at all levels for building highly concurrent and dynamic parallel processing systems. The CSP model of concurrency, as (largely) embodied in the occam programming language is used due to its simplicity, expressiveness, architecture- independent nature, and potential for high performance.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Numerical Simulation and Experimental Study on the Dynamic Performance of Heat Pump Water Heater with Electronic Expansion Valve

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2011
A series of experiments on the dynamic performance of the heat pump water heater(HPWH) unit with electronic expansion valve(EEV) under different environmental conditions were conducted. The dynamic heating capacity and coefficient of performance(COP) of ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Experimental study on dynamic performance of concrete filled steel tubular piles under impact loads

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2018
A kind of concrete filled steel tubular pile is proposed to resist the impact of boulders. In order to study the dynamic performance of the structure under impact loads, the tests considering impact loads of multi working conditions are carried out.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Dynamic Performance Comparisons of High-speed Maglev Single Vehicle Model and Marshalling Train Model

open access: yes机车电传动, 2020
Taking the high-speed maglev train as research object, the multi-body dynamic model of single vehicle and marshaling train were established. For the different running speeds, the line evaluation conditions of straight line and horizontal curves were set.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
