Solar‐Driven Ammonia Synthesis From Nitrate Reduction Paired With CO2 Capture for Sustainable Agriculture via a Robust CuPd Heterojunction

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Laser‐assisted synthesis of CuPd amorphous/crystalline heterojunction demonstrates >80% Faradaic efficiency for nitrate‐to‐ammonia electroreduction across wide potential windows. The integrated solar‐powered electrolyzer achieves 6% solar‐to‐ammonia energy efficiency at 0.4 sun, 6–20 mg h−1 CO2 capture rate, and stability exceeding 100 h.

Optimal greenhouse design should take into account optimal climate management [PDF]

open access: yes
The objective of this paper is to demonstrate that optimal greenhouse design must account for (and be combined to) optimal climate management. We prove this by showing that different strategies and set-points to control the greenhouse ventilators result ...

Selected bibliography on the modeling and control of plant processes [PDF]

open access: yes
A bibliography of information pertinent to the problem of simulating plants is presented. Detailed simulations of constituent pieces are necessary to justify simple models which may be used for analysis.

Specific Leaf Area and Photosynthesis of Apple Trees Under a Dynamic Agrivoltaic System

open access: yesAgriVoltaics Conference Proceedings
It has been assumed that crops cultivated in agrivoltaics (AV) systems can produce enough carbohydrates through the process of photosynthesis because they are expose to an excess of light. However, many studies have shown increases in specific leaf area

Red and blue laser light drives photosynthesis through dynamic changes of stomatal aperture

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Amid the growing global demand for sustainable crop production, plant factories with artificial lighting (PFALs) have gained attention as the systems provide stable, optimal growth environments for crops, and are largely unaffected by climate change ...

Mimicking a Light‐Harvesting Complex to Accelerate Photooxidation in Asymmetric Lipid Membrane Nanoreactors

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Biomimetic liposome nanoreactors mimicking natural light‐harvesting complexes enable efficient photooxidation of NADH. Membrane‐anchored fluorescein transfers energy via FRET to membrane anchored eosin Y, oxidizing NADH. While symmetric membranes show little improvement, asymmetric chromophore distribution enhances photooxidation rates by up to 27 ...

Retrograde signals control dynamic changes to the chromatin state at photosynthesis-associated loci

open access: yesNature Communications
Retrograde signalling networks originating in the organelles dictate nuclear gene expression and are essential for control and regulation of cellular energy metabolism.
