Dynamic Advance Reservation for Network Resource

2013 Third International Conference on Intelligent System Design and Engineering Applications, 2013
Based on the analyses of the research on existing reservation mechanism, advance reservation mechanism and malleable reservation mechanism, a dynamic advance reservation is introduced in this paper. Requests of advance reservation with fixed parameters, i.e.

Dynamic trunk reservation for teletraffic links

Proceedings of GLOBECOM '95, 2002
A state dependent cost of accepting a call is introduced to measure the benefit of alternate routes. This cost function, which requires expensive calculations, can be approximated to a linear form without much error. Based on this cost approximation, a dynamic trunk reservation level is derived.

Metapopulation Dynamics and Reserve Network Design

2004
The ecological theories of island biogeography and metapopulation dynamics provide some guidance for the selection of reserves. While some general concepts provide broad guidance, they are not useful in helping one choose between different sites and they are not universally true.

Impacts of Dynamic Probabilistic Reserve Sizing Techniques on Reserve Requirements and System Costs

IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, 2016
The increasing share of intermittent renewable energy sources (RES) potentially endangers a reliable power system operation. Due to the variability and unpredictability of added RES, reserve requirements will increase in the future. To counter this, adequate reserve sizing techniques are of major importance.

Optimal dynamic emergency reserve activation using spinning, hydro and demand-side reserves

Frontiers in Energy, 2016
This paper proposes an optimal dynamic reserve activation plan after the occurrence of an emergency situation (generator/transmission line outage, load increase or both). An optimal plan is developed to handle the emergency, using the coordinated action of fast and slow reserves, for secure operation with minimum overall cost. It considers the reserves

DYNAMIC OPERATING RULES FOR MOTEL RESERVATIONS

Decision Sciences, 1976
ABSTRACTWhen customers call a motel or a hotel to reserve a particular room (large, small, suites, single‐bed, double‐bed, etc.) decisions have to be made concerning the allocation of the available rooms. This paper presents a model for determining the maximum number of specific bookings that should be made for each type of room.

Resource reservation in dynamic spectrum networks

Exhibition, 2009
Great effort is currently being invested in networks exercising dynamic spectrum allocations. Such networks demand certain revisions in how radio resource management functionalities are designed. Our objective in this paper is to discuss the elements of resource reservation in dynamic spectrum networks, including various interactions between the ...

Dynamic group multicast routing with bandwidth reservations

International Journal of Communication Systems, 2002
AbstractMulticasting refers to the transmission of data from a source node to multiple destination nodes in a network. Group multicasting is a generalization of multicasting whereby every member of a group is allowed to multicast messages to other members that belong to the same group. The routing problem in this case involves the construction of a set

Dynamic Cash Management of Warranty Reserves

The Engineering Economist, 2011
The objective in warranty reserve management is to cover contingent liabilities that arise from warranty obligations. Maintaining excess reserves would cause opportunity cost, whereas depleting the reserve would necessitate finding emergency funds. In this article we propose a policy rule to guide cash management of warranty reserves for an infinite ...

Optimal reserve selection in a dynamic world

Biological Conservation, 2006
In this paper we present a novel expansion of the problem of optimal reserve site selection over time. We explore a case where areas with valuable biodiversity cannot all be protected immediately due to budget restrictions and there is a probability of species extinction on reserved as well as non-reserved sites.
