The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A Dynamic Reserve Evaluation Method for an Ultra-Deep Fractured Tight Sandstone Gas Reservoir

open access: yesEnergies
Dynamic reserves evaluation is crucial for the development and assessment of gas reservoirs. However, ultra-deep fractured tight sandstone gas reservoirs pose unique challenges due to their abnormally high pressure, tight matrix, and complex fracture ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Dynamic Reserve New Calculation Model for Fracture-Vuggy Reservoirs Considering the Effect of Dissolved Gas Precipitation

open access: yesCejing jishu
The internal spatial structure of fractured-karst reservoirs is complex, and the fluid distribution forms are diverse. The existence of water bodies and dissolved gases in the fracture-karst reservoir collective has a significant impact on dynamic ...

Dynamic Simulation of a Biogas Plant Providing Control Energy Reserves

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
The increasing integration of renewable energy sources leads to challenges for the power grid balance. The share of power plants with intermittent energy production is rising.

Optimal provision of distributed reserves under dynamic energy service preferences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We propose and solve a stochastic dynamic programming (DP) problem addressing the optimal provision of regulation service reserves (RSR) by controlling dynamic demand preferences in smart buildings.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Understanding and thinking about development of ultra-deep fault-controlled fracture-cavity reservoirs

open access: yesYouqi dizhi yu caishoulu
The development of ultra-deep fault-controlled fracture-cavity reservoirs is confronted with such issues as insufficient formation pressure, unclear reserve status, subpar water injection effects, and ambiguous direction for significant enhanced oil ...
