Beacon-enabled cognitive access for dynamic spectrum access
In dynamic spectrum access networks, the unused licensed spectrum used by primary users (PU) is opened to unlicensed secondary users (SU) for improving spectrum efficiency. We design a simple time-based threshold policy for collective protection of PUs, enabled by an out-of-band channel.

Discrete Exclusion Zone for Dynamic Spectrum Access Wireless Networks
The implementation of a geographic exclusion zone (GEZ) has been a scheme in regulations developed to protect a primary user (PU) in dynamic spectrum access wireless networks, where secondary users (SUs) can transmit only outside the exclusion zone ...

Estimation of Primary Channel Mean Period Based on State Transition Probability in Cognitive Radio
Primary channel mean period plays an important role in improving the performance of Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA), because many algorithms to improve the performance of Cognitive Radio (CR) need to use the channel mean period as a prior knowledge ...

Managing Policies for Dynamic Spectrum Access [PDF]
The advent of software radio technology and the resulting potential for dynamic access to the radio spectrum presents major new challenges in managing that access. These challenges arise from the likely spread of spectrum access decision-making authority well beyond existing regulatory authorities to a wide variety of co-existing market-based or open ...

Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Models for Cognitive Radio Aided Ad Hoc Networks and Their Performance Analysis [PDF]
In this paper, two dynamic spectrum sharing models are proposed, namely a Markov-chain model and a queue-based model in order, to evaluate the performance of CRAHNs, where the shared Primary Channels (PCs) are complemented by unshared Secondary Channels (
