Dynamic Strength Index and Countermovement Jump Performance in Female and Male Collegiate Basketball Athletes Across a Competitive Season [PDF]
Background: Basketball demands high levels of strength and power for actions such as jumping, sprinting, and changing direction. Monitoring these physical attributes across a competitive season can help inform training strategies.

Punching shear strength of steel fibre reinforced lightweight concrete slabs. [PDF]
One of the problems in slab-column connections is the punching shear failure at over loads. Such failures are sudden and catastrophic, and are undesirable since they do not allow an overall yield mechanism to ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Modelling of dynamic damage and failure in aluminium alloys [PDF]
A physically based damage and failure model, applicable to orthotropic metals is proposed in this paper. To account for the physical mechanisms of failure, the concept of thermally activated damage initially proposed by Klepaczko [1], has been adopted as

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

On the dynamic tensile strength of Zirconium
Despite its fundamental nature, the process of dynamic tensile failure (spall) is poorly understood. Spall initiation via cracks, voids, etc, before subsequent coalesce, is known to be highly microstructure-dependant. In particular, the availability of slip planes and other methods of plastic deformation controls the onset (or lack thereof) of spall ...

Recovery of Muscle Function Following Strength Training in Rowers [PDF]
Strength training using free weights is performed by athletes in many sports as a means of enhancing performance. However, there is a dearth of research investigating the acute impact of bouts of this form of strength training on muscle function, which ...
