Analytical expressions for thermophysical properties of solid and liquid tungsten relevant for fusion applications

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2017
The status of the literature is reviewed for several thermophysical properties of pure solid and liquid tungsten which constitute input for the modelling of intense plasma-surface interaction phenomena that are important for fusion applications. Reliable

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Discrete Global Sliding Mode Control for Time-Delay Carbon Fiber Multilayer Diagonal Loom

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
In order to overcome the disadvantage that the dynamic sliding mode surface of the discrete global sliding mode control has a too long evolution time, a quick discrete global sliding mode control method is proposed.

A Qualitative Analysis of Patient Perspectives and Preferences in Lupus Management to Guide Lupus Guidelines Development

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective A patient‐centered approach for chronic disease management, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), aligns treatment with patients’ values and preferences, leading to improved outcomes. This paper summarizes how patient experiences, perspectives, and priorities informed the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 2024 Lupus Nephritis (LN)

Non-equilibrium relaxation and interface energy of the Ising model

open access: yes, 1993
{}From the non-equilibrium critical relaxation study of the two-dimensional Ising model, the dynamical critical exponent $z$ is estimated to be $2.165 \pm 0.010$ for this model. The relaxation in the ordered phase of this model is consistent with $\exp (-

Dynamic surface activity of films of lung surfactant phospholipids, hydrophobic proteins, and neutral lipids.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1995
Surface pressure-area (pi-A) isotherms during dynamic cycling were measured for films of dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) and column-separated fractions of calf lung surfactant extract (CLSE).

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Replica theory for fluctuations of the activation barriers in glassy systems

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the problem of slow activation dynamics in glassy systems undergoing a random first order phase transition. Using an effective potential approach to supercooled liquids, we determine the spectrum of activation barriers for entropic droplets ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
