Segmentation of Time Series in Improving Dynamic Time Warping

2018 IEEE International Conference on Big Data (Big Data), 2018
Since its introduction to the computer science community, the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) algorithm has demonstrated good performance with time series data. While this elastic measure is known for its effectiveness with time series sequence comparisons, the possibility of pathological warping paths weakens the algorithms potential considerably ...

Accurate and Fast Dynamic Time Warping

2013
Dynamic time warping (DTW) is widely used to measure similarity between two time series by finding an optimal warping path. However, its quadratic time and space complexity are not suitable for large time series datasets. To overcome the issues, we propose a modified version of dynamic time warping, which not only retains the accuracy of DTW but also ...

Dynamic Time Warping Based Sign Retrieval

2019 27th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2019
Sign language, a visual language, is the main mode of communication for the Deaf. A large body of audio-visual material are annotated with sign language for the utilization of the Deaf. Enabling the sign based retrieval of these sources will serve two purposes: (i) Deaf people will be able to make searches using sign language; (ii) People who do not ...

Robust voicing estimation with dynamic time warping

Proceedings of the 1998 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, ICASSP '98 (Cat. No.98CH36181), 2002
This paper presents a robust voicing estimation algorithm for low bit rate harmonic speech coding. The algorithm is based on waveform time-warping followed by spectral matching based on voiced and unvoiced local spectral models. The objective of time warping is to reduce the effect of pitch variations on the voicing decision.

Segmented Dynamic Time Warping

2019
Initially used in speech recognition, the dynamic time warping algorithm (DTW) has regained popularity with the widespread use of time series data. While demonstrating good performance, this elastic measure has two significant drawbacks: high computational costs and the possibility of pathological warping paths.
