Dynamic tire-pavement friction prediction with an integrated sensing-modeling approach

open access: yesFriction
This study proposed an intelligent tire solution to predict tire-pavement friction from tire sensors using an integrated modeling-sensing approach. A laboratory platform is built to conduct dynamic tire tests under different operating parameters and ...

Abaqus-Based Virtual Sensor for Runway Friction: Regression Model Development and Validation Using Tire Parameters

open access: yesIEEE Access
The friction coefficient is a pivotal parameter that reflects the airworthiness condition of an airport runway. Although numerous innovative methods and techniques for measuring the runway friction coefficient have been proposed, the majority remain ...

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.

On line estimation of rolling resistance for intelligent tires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The analysis of a rolling tire is a complex problem of nonlinear elasticity. Although in the technical literature some tire models have been presented, the phenomena involved in the tire rolling are far to be completely understood.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Real-Time Axle-Load Sensing and AI-Enhanced Braking-Distance Prediction for Multi-Axle Heavy-Duty Trucks

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Accurate braking-distance prediction for heavy-duty multi-axle trucks remains challenging due to the large gross vehicle weight, tandem-axle interactions, and strong transient load transfer during emergency braking.

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Smart Traction Control Systems for Electric Vehicles Using Acoustic Road-type Estimation

open access: yes, 2019
The application of traction control systems (TCS) for electric vehicles (EV) has great potential due to easy implementation of torque control with direct-drive motors. However, the control system usually requires road-tire friction and slip-ratio values,

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.
