Design of a non-traditional dynamic vibration absorber

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
A non-traditional dynamic vibration absorber is proposed for the minimization of maximum vibration velocity response of a vibrating structure. Unlike the traditional damped absorber configuration, the proposed absorber has a linear viscous damper connecting the absorber mass directly to the ground instead of the main mass.

Steady-State Behavior of Nonlinear Dynamic Vibration Absorber

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1961
The Frahm-type dynamic vibration absorber is analyzed for the case where both main and absorber springs have nonlinearities of the Duffing type. A one-term-approximation solution is assumed for the motions of the two masses, and the resulting amplitude equation is solved using a graphical procedure.

Dynamics Analysis of Energy Absorbing Device Based on Damped Dynamics Vibration Absorber

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
Nowadays, absorbing energy from vibration is one of the most promising technologies. In general, the vibrations may be very large, such as the vibrations of tall buildings, large flexible bridges, and ocean platform and so on in some environmental loading.

Analysis of a Nonlinear Dynamic Vibration Absorber

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1953
Abstract This paper presents a mathematical analysis of the action of a dynamic vibration absorber. The system analyzed consists of a main mass attached to a rigid foundation by a linear spring coupled to the absorber mass by a spring of nonlinear characteristics.

Rail Dynamic Vibration Absorber Design and Vibration Reduction Analysis

Noise & Vibration Worldwide, 2011
The rail between two adjacent fasteners is regarded as the research object, and the rail is simplified as the main vibration system of undamped single degree of freedom, which supports the elastic components. The dynamic vibration absorber is simplified as a spring and damped system of 3-DOF(three degrees of freedom), to establish a mathematical model

Dynamic performance analysis of nonlinear tuned vibration absorbers

Nonlinear Science and Complexity, 2006
Abstract The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of a damping controlled semi-active tuned vibration absorber (TVA). A base-excited, single-degree-of-freedom structure coupled with a TVA model is adopted as the baseline model for our analysis. A non-model based groundhook control (displacement-based on–off control or
