Machine Learning‐Based Estimation of Experimental Artifacts and Image Quality in Fluorescence Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
The use of image quality metrics in combination with machine learning enables automatic image quality assessment for fluorescence microscopy images. The method can be integrated into the experimental pipeline for optical microscopy and utilized to classify artifacts in experimental images and to build quality rankings with a reference‐free approach ...

Dynamical and spatial aspects of sandpile cellular automata

Journal of Statistical Physics, 1991
The Bak, Tang, and Wiesenfeld cellular automaton is simulated in 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 dimensions. We define a (new) set of scaling exponents by introducing the concept of conditional expectation values. Scaling relations are derived and checked numerically and the critical dimension is discussed.

Solution of some conjectures about topological properties of linear cellular automata

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2004
We study two dynamical properties of linear D-dimensional cellular automata over Zm namely, denseness of periodic points and topological mixing. For what concerns denseness of periodic points, we complete the work initiated in (Theoret. Comput. Sci. 174 (

Investigation of self-organized criticality aspects of landslide dynamics through the use of cellular automata models

2015
A better understanding of landslide dynamics is an important scientific goal, as it is a key factor in the process of improving risk assessment and mitigation. Some of the most interesting and fruitful frameworks for the study of this class of phenomena are provided by self-organized criticality theory.
