Theme Park Regionalization: A Comparison of Two Critical Cases

open access: yesTijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie, Volume 117, Issue 3, Page 391-409, July 2026.
Abstract The growth ambitions of theme parks and zoos in recent years have sparked academic and policy attention regarding whether such amusement facilities should be viewed not just as isolated leisure objects, but also as contributors to regional economic development.

Near‐0°C Temperature Pathways From High‐Resolution Simulation in Current and Pseudo‐Global Warming Future Over Eastern Canada and United States

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Near‐0°C (−2°C to +2°C) air temperatures are critical for determining the phase of precipitation, the onset of freeze–thaw cycles, and associated impacts on the environment and infrastructure. Change is expected in a warming climate, yet large‐scale high‐resolution understanding of near‐0°C transitions remains limited, particularly under ...

Large‐Scale Moisture Circulation Index Related to Socioeconomic Drought and Its Subseasonal Forecast Skill in the Asian Monsoon Rainy Season

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Socioeconomic drought, which occurs when water demand exceeds available supply and often leads to water withdrawal restrictions, affects water resource management. However, the relationship between large‐scale moisture circulation and the occurrence of socioeconomic drought has not been well understood. In this study, we focused on the Yoshino

Enhanced Moisture Uptake Fuels North Atlantic Tropical Easterly Waves Precipitation in a Downscaled CMIP6 Projection

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Tropical easterly waves (TEWs) are critical drivers of the tropical North Atlantic hydroclimate, yet their future behavior remains uncertain. Using a high‐resolution, dynamically downscaled, bias‐corrected CMIP6 data set and a Lagrangian moisture tracking approach, we provide the first comprehensive, basin‐wide projections of future changes in

The Lifecycle of Tracer Variance in the North Atlantic

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract Oceanic tracer distributions are shaped by turbulent mixing, which may be understood via a traver variance budget. There is a tracer variance lifecycle: variance production by turbulent flows stirring large‐scale gradients, redistribution by currents, and variance dissipation by molecular diffusion.
