Effect of edge transmission and elastic scattering on the resistance of magnetic barriers

open access: yes, 2007
Strong magnetic barriers are defined in two-dimensional electron gases by magnetizing dysprosium ferromagnetic platelets on top of a Ga[Al]As heterostructure. A small resistance across the barrier is observed even deep inside the closed regime.

Enhanced Separation of Neodymium and Dysprosium by Nonaqueous Solvent Extraction from a Polyethylene Glycol 200 Phase Using the Neutral Extractant Cyanex 923

open access: yesACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, 2020
Neodymium and dysprosium can be efficiently separated by solvent extraction, using the neutral extractant Cyanex 923, if the conventional aqueous feed phase is largely replaced by the green polar organic solvent polyethylene glycol 200 (PEG 200).

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Parity Violation, the Neutron Radius of Lead, and Neutron Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The neutron radius of a heavy nucleus is a fundamental nuclear-structure observable that remains elusive. Progress in this arena has been limited by the exclusive use of hadronic probes that are hindered by large and controversial uncertainties in the ...

Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

Structures based on porous silicon with singleand double-layer coatings photoelectric properties

open access: yesФизика волновых процессов и радиотехнические системы, 2017
The spectral dependences of the reflection coefficient and the current-voltage characteristics of structures for solar cells based on porous silicon with single- and double-layer coatings from zinc sulphide and dysprosium fluoride are investigated. It is

Crystal Engineering of Reticular Materials for Gas‐ and Liquid‐Phase Hydrocarbon Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Crystal engineering enables systematic study of structure/function relationships as exemplified by pore engineering of reticular sorbents, including porous coordination networks and covalent organic frameworks. This review assesses such studies applied across the full scope of industrially relevant hydrocarbon separations to provide insight into how ...

Synthesis under high pressure: crystal structure and properties of cubic Dy36O11F50[AsO3]12 ∙ H2O

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry
The multi-anionic compound with the composition Dy36O11F50[AsO3]12 ∙ H2O, which can be described in the non-centrosymmetric cubic space group F4¯3c, already shows an unusually large unit cell with an axis of a = 2587.59(14) pm.
