Magnetic relaxation in dysprosium-dysprosium collisions
The collisional magnetic reorientation rate constant ${g}_{R}$ is measured for magnetically trapped atomic dysprosium (Dy), an atom with large magnetic dipole moments. Using buffer gas cooling with cold helium, large numbers ($g{10}^{11}$) of Dy are loaded into a magnetic trap and the buffer gas is subsequently removed.

Mononuclear Dysprosium Alkoxide and Aryloxide Single‐Molecule Magnets
Recent studies have shown that mononuclear lanthanide (Ln) complexes can be high‐performing single‐molecule magnets (SMMs). Recently, there has been an influx of mononuclear Ln alkoxide and aryloxide SMMs, which have provided the necessary geometrical ...

The coordination reaction of the [Dy(hfac)3(H2O)2] units (hfac− = 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoroacetylacetonate) with the [8′-(Diphenoxylphosphinyl)[1,1′-binaphthalen]-8-yl]diphenoxylphosphine oxide ligand (L) followed by a crystallisation in a 1:3 CH2Cl2:n ...

Battery Electric Vehicles: Perspectives and Challenges
In the early decades of the car industry (1880-1920), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) got a remarkable popularity. Eventually, they fell into oblivion for nearly a century, when they left the stage to internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs), which ...

Anisotropy induced Feshbach resonances in a quantum dipolar gas of magnetic atoms
We explore the anisotropic nature of Feshbach resonances in the collision between ultracold magnetic submerged-shell dysprosium atoms, which can only occur due to couplings to rotating bound states.

Synthesis and Magnetism of Neutral, Linear Metallocene Complexes of Terbium(II) and Dysprosium(II).
The divalent metallocene complexes Ln(CpiPr5)2 (Ln = Tb, Dy) were synthesized through the KC8 reduction of Ln(CpiPr5)2I intermediates and represent the first examples of neutral, linear metallocenes for these elements.

Investigation of the Gravitational Potential Dependence of the Fine-Structure Constant Using Atomic Dysprosium [PDF]
Radio-frequency E1 transitions between nearly degenerate, opposite parity levels of atomic dysprosium were monitored over an eight month period to search for a variation in the fine-structure constant.
